Monthly Archives: August 2015

So I belong to, it is a website I use for free to record my food and water intake as well as any exercise.

I was shocked today when I was recording my meals and at the bottom of my daily totals was printed this, from the site people themselves:

“You’ve burned 304 calories today. The more you burn, the more you can eat!”

I understand if you burn more than you intake you lose weight, however, I don’t think that they should be pushing the notion if you workout more than you can eat more.  I don’t want to reward myself from working out more with food.  Rewarding myself with food is why I am where I am today, well more so 4 years ago. I am where I am today due to hard work and perserverance.

I am shocked that a site promoting themselves on weight loss actually felt it was OK to post that.  It’s like saying well you can have that chocolate cake if you work out another half hour on a treadmill.  No I will work out another half hour and be excited that I could.

Food should not be a motivation or reward for doing what you should be doing regardless.

I have been a member of Sparkpeople for my journey and today I am just shattered.  That is such a bad ideology to teach to impressionable people that it’s OK to reward workouts with food or using food as a motivator to work out.

How do you guys feel about that?

Truth is that there would be no need for diets if there was not so many unhealthy choices out there, the ones that once we try it we are instantly hooked and addicted to them.

How many of us get unhealthy by eating too much lettuce, meat, fish, fruits, etc.

Unhealthy food was made to look and taste delicious for a reason, to have us tempted and become addicted thus make those companies more money.

Literally those companies are just as bad as drug dealers.  They know their products are unhealthy and bad for us and that we can not just take one bite.

The best way to break an addiction is to not try the product in the first place.  But once you tasted the sweetness of the drug(sugar, carbs, flour, etc) it is hard to not want more, hard but not impossible.

This is a journey and everyone’s path is different.  But no matter what path you take, you still have people who are here ready and willing to help you stay on track, you just need to ask.

So I cannot make desserts that make more than a simple serving of one or two.  I can not control myself when they are in the home, even when I put them in the freezer.

I have to change things and when I make desserts in quanity! I most make provisions: either it must be a dish served with other people or given away to other people, friends, neighbors, family or even left on the break room table at work.

While I have been busy working on recipes for my cookbook, this is a real dilema I have encountered.  The temptations are wining.

What other suggestions do you guys have to allow one to make treats but not indulge in them too quickly.

You feel like all you do is drink water, you swear that you are about to grow gills and fins.

Water is very important in life, not just when eating this way. How much water should you drink a day?  A person should consume 8-12 glasses of water a day.  That’s 64-96 ounces a day.

Water is essential in maintaining our body’s functions. Sometimes when we feel hungry it is actually our bodies telling us that they as thirsty, so when you feel hungry drink some water first.

Did you know that water does the following?:

Increases Energy & Relieves Fatigue – Since your brain is mostly water, drinking it helps you think, focus and concentrate better and be more alert. As an added bonus, your energy levels are also boosted as water energizes your muscles.

Promotes Weight Loss – Removes by-products of fat, reduces eating intake (by drinking a glass of water prior to meals), reduces hunger, raises your metabolism and has zero calories!

Flushes Out Toxins – Gets rid of waste through sweat and urination which reduces the risk of kidney stones and urinary tract infections.

Improves Skin Complexion – Moisturizes your skin, keeps it fresh, soft, glowing and smooth. Gets rid of wrinkles. It’s the best anti-aging treatment around!

Maintains Regularity – Aids in digestion as water is essential to digest your food and prevents constipation.

Boosts Immune System – Drinking plenty of water helps fight against flu, cancer and other ailments like heart attacks.

Natural Headache Remedy – Helps relieve and prevent headaches (as well as migraines & back pains) which are commonly caused by dehydration.

Prevents Cramps & Sprains – Proper hydration helps keep joints lubricated and muscles more elastic so joint pain is less likely.

The best reason ever to drink water:  Water is FREE! Provided to us by our Creator.

What tricks do you do to get your water intake in everyday?

Did you notice any of these benefits while doing this month’s challenge?

I really noticed my complexion get better.

So I belong to some low carb support groups on my Facebook page.  One lady in particular posted that she had received bad news health wise about herself and although she was doing well on low carb lifestyle she was giving up as she turned back to junk food.  She then asked for advice.

So people commented with advice that helped them during their own journy.  Like get rid of all junk food in the house, don’t give up, one step at a time, don’t be tempted by the junk as it does not feed the tummy it just feeds your emotions.

Well she commented back, she will not get rid of the junk food as she is not the only one in the home and she will not punish her family by taking away their treats just because she is overweight.  Then blamed people for judging her as no one else is in her shoes and just bashed everyone who tried to offer advice.  She said some hurtful things.  But in reality you have to stop, step back and realize one thing.

Some people do not want help they just want excuses to continue doing what they are currently doing, even if it is slowly killing them and they know deep down it is wrong.

This lifestyle is like a religion, you can not claim you are something if you do not live your life according to what that lifestyle outlines you to be doing.  You need to not only believe in it but follow the lifestyle outlined to us.

Some things are easy to give up on, but giving up on yourself should NEVER be one of those things.

This is your only life, you fight for every second to live it.
